Systems Biology and Visceral Manifestations of Spleen
Genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabology are the most commonly used technologies of systems biology to reveal the scientific connotation of spleen viscera manifestation. Through literature review of the previous papers on systems biology researches about traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) spleen visceral manifestations, it is found that genomics can explain the biological basis of spleen viscera manifestation; transcriptomics can reveal the internal regulation mechanism; proteomics can analyze the material basis and internal relationship; and metabolomics can explain the metabolic mechanism. In general, systems biology makes it possible to promote the inheritance and innovation of spleen viscera manifestation by constructing the academic system. However, there are still many unsolved problems, such as confusions in diseases and syndromes, lack of specificity in the studies about the essence of spleen deficiency syndrome, ignorance of the biological information of potential biomarkers without differential expression, relatively scarce analysis of omics-related clinical data, and “gene-protein-metabolite separation”.
