The Effectiveness and Safety of Fufang Xueshuantong Capsules (复方血栓通胶囊) in the Treatment of Glaucoma: A Systematic Review with Meta-analysis
To systematically assess the clinical effectiveness and safety of
Fufang Xueshuantong Capsules
(复方血栓通胶囊, FXC) in the treatment of glaucoma.
Methods
2
Chinese and English databases including CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, Sinomed, PubMed, the Cochrane Library, and Web of Science were systematically searched from the inception dates to May 8th, 2021 for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) on FXC in the treatment of glaucoma. Risk of bias tool in the Cochrane Handbook was used to assess the quality of the RCTs. RevMan 5.3 software was used to perform meta-analyses on total effective rate, total gray value, ocular hemodynamic parameters including peak systolic velocity (PSV), end diastolic velocity (EDV), pulsatility index (PI), and resistivity index (RI), photosensitivity and defect, as well as on the safety.
Results
2
Sixteen RCTs were included involving 1482 participants. The overall methodological quality of the included RCTs was relatively low. Results from meta-analyses showed that compared to the control group, the treatment group could significantly improve the total effective rate (

Conclusion
2
FXC combined with routine treatment or FXC alone can increase the total effective rate to a certain extent, improve the hemodynamic parameters, and improve the visual field in glaucoma patients, and no serious adverse events were observed.
