Sinew Dredging and Reduction Manipulation for Treating 65 Cases of Atlantoaxial Joint Staggered Seam-induced Cervical Vertigo
To observe the effect of sinew dredging and reduction manipulation on cervical vertigo caused by the atlantoaxial joint staggered seam.
Methods
2
One hundred and thirty patients with atlantoaxial joint staggered seam-induced cervical vertigo were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, with 65 cases in each group. Treatment group was treated with sinew dredging and reduction manipulation, 10 to 15 minutes each time, twice a week, with an interval of 3 days; the control group received conventional traction, 20 minutes each time, once a day. Patients in both groups received 2-week treatment, and were followed up three months after treatment. The degree of axis odontoid deviation at the cervical opening position through X-rays, and the range of motion of atlantoaxial joint at the cervical flexion and extension position were measured before and after treatment. The clinical effect was analyzed after treatment at follow-up.
Results
2
The markedly effective and cure rate of the treatment group after treatment and at follow-up were 87.69% and 90.48%, respectively, while those of the control group were 69.23% and 66.67% (
P
=0.01 or
P
=0.001). The degree of the axis odontoid deviation in both groups significantly decreased than those before treatment (treatment group:
t
=13.643,
P
<0.001; control group:
t
=2.776,
P
=0.007); the degree was significantly lower in the treatment group than that in the control group (
t
=-7.31,
P
<0.001), and the difference before and after treatment in the treatment group was larger than that in the control group (
t
=10.010,
P
<0.001). The motion range of atlantoaxial joint after treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment in both groups (treatment group:
t
=-9.135,
P
<0.001; control group:
t
=-11.653,
P
=0.007), and the treatment group was superior to that of control group after treatment (
t
=5.08,
P
<0.001); treatment group was superior to the control group in terms of the before-after changes (
t
=-6.232,
P
<0.001).
Conclusion
2
Sinew dredging and reduction mani-pulation has better effects than conventional traction in the treatment of cervical vertigo caused by atlantoaxial joint staggered seam, which can redress the degree of axial odontoid deviation and increase the range of motion of atlantoaxial joint.
