Discussion on “Pain” Caused by “Foam Accumulation” in Osteoarticular Diseases
As the main symptom of osteoarticular diseases, pain is closely related to “muscle and bone imba-lance” caused by local homeostasis disorder. Based on the discussion on “foam accumulation” causing “pain” in the
Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor
(《黄帝内经》), the authors explain that “muscle and bone imbalance” may be the basis of “foam accumulation”, and “foam accumulation” is the key factor leading to the occurrence and maintenance of osteoarticular disease-related pain. The manual therapy takes the principle of “treating muscle first when there is muscle and bone imbalance”, and can relieve pain by “unblocking constraint and dissipating masses” to improve local “foam accumulation”, thereby providing ideas for future researches exploring the mechanism of osteoarticular disease-related pain.
