FENG Xingzhong's Experience in Treatment of Parkinson's Disease after Deep Brain Stimulation based on“Deficiency Qi and Liquid Stagnation”
This paper summarized Professor FENG Xingzhong's clinical experience in treating Parkinson's di-sease (PD) after deep brain stimulation (DBS) based on the theory of “deficiency
qi
and liquid stagnation”. It is believed that the PD patients after DBS are characterized by severe “deficiency
qi
”, mainly manifested as
qi
deficiency, blood deficiency, and
yin
deficiency, as well as “liquid stagnation”, of which blood stasis, phlegm dampness, and turbid toxin are also aggravated, while liver wind,
qi
stagnation, and internal heat are reduced but still continued. It is proposed to treat this disease by stages. Within two weeks after the operation, the main pathogenesis of the disease is original
qi
deficiency and depletion, for which the focus should be supplementing deficiency and banking up original
qi
, and the treatment method is to boost
qi
and nourish the blood, boost
qi
and nourish
yin
, by using
Shengmai Powder
(生脉散),
Danggui Buxue Decoction
(当归补血汤),
Yupingfeng Powder
(玉屏风散) and their modifications. Two weeks to half a year after operation, the main pathogenesis of the disease is root deficiency and access stagnation, acquiring deficiency supplementing and stagnation dissolving, for which the treatment is to calm the liver and extinguish wind, rectify
qi
and move stagnation, invigorate blood and dissolve stasis, dispel dampness and remove turbidity, clear internal heat, and
Zhengan Xifeng Decoction with Zengye Decoction
(镇肝熄风汤合增液汤),
Tianma Gouteng Drink
(天麻钩藤饮),
Sini Powder
(四逆散) are commonly used. More than half a year after operation, the main pathogenesis is mainly toxin damaging brain collaterals, and the treatment principle is to resolve toxins and unblock the collaterals, by using self-designed
Yizhi Jiedu Decoction
(益智解毒汤) with modifications according to the nature and degree of turbid toxin, in order to consolidate the clinical effect.
