Treatment for 42 Cases of Diabetic Foot Patients with Qi-Yin Deficiency and Stasis Syndrome Using Taohong Siwu Decoction (桃红四物汤) plus Self-made Buqi Yangyin Decoction (自拟补气养阴汤) Combined with Routine Therapy
(自拟补气养阴汤) in the treatment of patients with diabetic foot and

deficiency and stasis syndrome, and to explore the possible mechanism.
Methods
2
A total of 84 diabetic foot patients with
qi
-
yin
deficiency and stasis syndrome were randomly divided into treatment and control group, each with 42 cases. The control group was given conventional western medicine, while the treatment group was additionally
given oral
Taohong Siwu Decoction
and self-made
Buqi Yangyin Decoction
, one dose a day, both groups for four weeks. The traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores including main symptoms score and secondary symptoms score, fasting blood glucose (FBG), oxidation reaction indicators including malondialdehyde(MDA), superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), and inflammatory factors including hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), interleukin 6 (IL-6) and interleukin 1β (IL-1β) were assessed before and after treatment. The adverse reactions were observed during treatment, and the clinical effect was analyzed.
Results
2
The total effective rate of the treatment group was 90.48%, which was higher than 73.81% of the control group (
P
= 0.046). After treatment, the main symptoms score, secondary symptoms score, and the levels of FBG, MDA, hs-CRP, IL-6 and IL-1β in both groups significantly decreased, while the levels of SOD and GSH-PX increased (
P
<0.05), and more improvements were found in the treatment group than in the control group (
P
<0.05). During the treatment, there was two cases (4.76%) of adverse events including one abdominal discomfort and one case of rash in the treatment group, one case (2.38%) of abdominal discomfort in the control group, all of which disappeared after symptomatic treatment. There was no statistically significant difference between groups in adverse reactions (
P
>0.05). There were no obvious abnormalities in laboratory tests such as blood routine, urine routine, liver function and renal function in both groups.
Conclusion
2
Taohong Siwu Decoction
and self-made
Buqi Yangyin Decoction
combined with conventional western medicine can effectively improve the clinical outcomes and reduce clinical symptoms in patients with diabetic foot and
qi

deficiency and stasis synrome than western medicine alone, which may be related to the alleviation of oxidative stress and inflammation.
