The Academic Connotation of Regulating Qi and Resolving Toxins and Its Application in Prevention and Treatment of Tumors
“Treat disease before it arises” is a core idea of
Inner Canon of Yellow Emperor
(《黄帝内经》), having the claim of improving the strength, preventing disease before it arises, and controlling the development of existing disease essentially. The concept of regulating
qi
and resolving toxins to treat tumors is advocated based on the inherited thought of “reinforcing healthy
qi
and banking up the root” and the theory of “treat disease before it arises”. The main pathomechanism is disorder of
qi
movement and internal accumulation of pathogenic toxin. Treatment should be based on differentiation of both syndrome and disease. The methods of caring healthy
qi
, emphasizing the ascending and descending, and unblocking the emotions can be used to regulate
qi
. At the different stages, it is also suggested to take corresponding methods to resolve toxins either by dissolving turbidity-toxin, purifying residual toxins or eliminating latent toxins. All of these are aimed to give full play to the leading role of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention, the synergistic role in the treatment and the core role in the rehabilitation of tumors.
