Effect of Compound Kushen Injection (复方苦参注射液) on the Survival of Gastric Cancer: a Real-world Retrospective Multicenter Cohort Study
(复方苦参注射液) on the survival of gastric cancer (GC) patients in real world.
Methods
2
The clinical data of 565 patients with GC was collected from Hospital Information System (HIS) in five hospitals from March 1st, 2012 to October 31st, 2020. According to the treatment type, they were divided into a combination group (110 cases) treated with western medicine and
Compound Kushen Injection
, and a control group (455 cases) in which only western medicine was administered. Through propensity score matching, 94 patients in each group were matched at a ratio of 1∶1. Cox regression model was used to analyze the risk factors of death between the two groups, and Kaplan-Meier method and Log-rank test were used to compare the overall survival (OS) and progress-free survival (PFS).
Results
2
The median PFS (19.57 months vs. 11.87 months,
P
= 0.005) and OS ( 40.60 months vs. 15.70 months,
P
<0.001) of the combination group were significantly longer than those of control group. The 1-, 3-, and 5-year survival rates in the combination group were 88.7%, 53.4% and 40.9%, respectively, which were significantly higher than 71.0%, 29.6% and 0.0% in the control group (
P
<0.001). Pathological type of signet ring cell carcinoma (
P
= 0.002), TNM stage Ⅲc (
P
= 0.034), and stage Ⅳ(
P
= 0.045) were independent risk factors for survival and prognosis of GC.
Compound Kushen Injection
combined with chemotherapy (
P
<0.001), radical surgery (
P
<0.001) and
Addie Injection
(艾迪注射液,
P
<0.001) could prolong the survival time and improve the survival prognosis of GC.
Conclusion
2
Compound Kushen Injection
may prolong the survival of GC patients in real world, and
Compound Kushen Injection
combined with
Aidi Injection
had more benefits in GC patients receiving chemotherapy and radical surgery.
