Deep Needling Manipulation at Chengqi (ST 1) and Qiuhou(EX-HN 7) Acupoints in the Treatment of Retinopathy
It is found that deep needling at Chengqi (ST 1) and Qiuhou (EX-HN 7) has achieved good results in the treatment of intractable fundus diseases such as retinal vascular diseases. The underlying focus of the manipulation is to achieve instantaneous and effective stimulation by needling at the two acupoints under the premise of safety. The instantaneity and effectiveness of the arrival of
qi
is an important guarantee for clinical safety and efficacy. The local complex anatomical environment of the two acupoints reflects the importance of acupoints, and also determines the difficulty and risk during manipulation. In order to ensure the safety of the manipulation in clinical practice, this paper introduced a standard operation procedure of “pressing steady and needling slowly” when deep needling at Chengqi and Qiuhou acupoints, on the basis of previous experience, channel theory and modern anatomy. Additionally, relevant explanations are provided, including safe and effective operation skills, judgment index of instantaneous effective stimulus amount, and precautions. The coordination of the doctor's needling and pressing hands, as well as the cooperation between doctors and patients (the doctors “pressing steady and needling slowly” and patients “closing their eyes toward the nose”) effectively solve the double problems of manipulation difficulty and high risk of deep needling on the eye acupoints. The manipulation of “pressing steady and needling slowly” is the key to ensure the safety of deep needling at Chengqi and Qiuhou acupoints in the clinical treatment of retinopathy, and is also the basis for acupuncture to achieve the “instantaneous effective stimulation”.
