Discussion on the Role of “Spirit” in the Occurrence and Progression of Pulmonary Nodules based on the “Body, Qi and Spirit” Thought
and spirit” is one of the theoretical systems of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in understanding the human body. This article analyzed the pulmonary nodules from the perspective of “spirit”, discussed the role of spirit in the occurrence and progression of pulmonary nodules, and explored the prevention and treatment of the disease based on spirit treatment. In terms of “body,
qi
and spirit”, “spirit not playing its role” is considered as an important factor in the occurrence of pulmonary nodules as well as the pathological basis for the progression of the disease, and moreover is a dominant reason. Therefore, treatment of spirit is emphasized in treating pulmonary nodules, and the general principle is proposed to be keeping the spirit in the interior, which provide new ideas for the treatment of pulmonary nodules with TCM.
