Theoretical Exploration of Reconstructing “Brain Channel”
The understanding of the brain in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) has evolved with the advancement of history, but the knowledge of interaction between the brain and other

organs, channels and collaterals has always been lacking. The
Hui
medicine has a completely different understanding of the brain compared to TCM. It is believed that “the body orifice governs the opening and closing of its house, and only brain can manage the other orifices”, and therefore, “the brain governs opening and closing of all

organs”. Taking reference of the conceptual theory of the “brain channel” in the
Hui
medicine, a reconstructing idea of “brain channel” is proposed by taking actual evidence, drawing on the root and the branch, and following the diagnosis and treatment practice, that is, based on modern scientific evidence, referring to the tree-shaped channels and collaterals theoretical model, and following the clinical practice and development trend of diagnosis and treatment. All are done to re-characterize and construct the connection between the brain and other zang-fu organs, channels and collaterals, carrying the understanding of TCM with modern scientific knowledge.
