Construction of Xiang (象) Thinking Based on Embodied-Cognitive Linguistics:Discussion on the Differences in Value Concepts Between Chinese and Western Medicine
Based on the bidirectional relationship between language and thinking, a dialogue framework between linguistics and
xiang
(象) thinking is established to systematically reveal the value chain of
xiang
thinking constructed under the language model, and to explore the differences in the value concep
ts of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and western medicine under the meta thinking of TCM. As the original thinking of sinology in the general sense, the essence of
xiang
thinking is the deductive way of the thinking subject to the objective law, which affects the thinking paradigm of TCM. Cognitive linguistics provides a precise path for the construction process of
xiang
thinking, and the theoretical construction of
xiang
thinking can be divided into two meanings, "body" and "cognition", experiencing five stages such as observing objects, visualization and abstraction, imagery cognitive model, conceptualization and categorization, and modeling deduction.
Xiang
thinking and innovation in TCM theory are influenced by three dimensions, subjective human factors, language factors, and practical factors. The difference between Chinese and western medical values is determined by the underlying logic of civilization, which is reflected in subject culture, thinking and cognition, and diagnosis and treatment methods. The mutual learning of civilizations and cultural inclusiveness are the key to seeking the symbiotic development of Chinese and western medicine.
