Exploring the Pathogenesis and Treatment of Liver Cancer Ascites Based on the Theory of "Body Fluids Become Sluggish and Stagnate"
Based on the theory of "body fluids become sluggish and stagnate" from
The Spiritual Pivot·The Origins of All Diseases
(《灵枢·百病始生》), it is proposed that the core pathogenesis of liver cancer ascites lies in the insufficient generation of body fluids, derangement of conveyance, and overwhelming accumulation of pathogenic water phlegm congelation and water-damp diffusion intertwine, giving rise to a pathological state characterized by water retention and adhesion. From this perspective, the occurrence and metastasis of liver cancer, as well as the mechanisms underlying the formation of ascites can be further explored. In accordance with the pathological features of liver cancer ascites, the therapeutic principle is formulated as "nourishing
yin
while promoting diuresis, and resolving phlegm while draining dampness", which is complemented by the auxiliary strategies of regulating
qi
to aid phlegm dispersion and activating blood to enhance dampness elimination. This is expected to provide a robust theoretical foundation for enriching clinical differentiation and treatment of liver cancer ascites.
