PENG Qinghua's Experience in Treating Vitreous Opacity from the Perspective of Lungs
To summarize Professor PENG Qinghua's clinical experience in treating vitreous opacity from the perspective of lungs. By analyzing the correlation between lungs and vitreous body in physiological characteristics and pathogenesis evolution, it is proposed that "lungs failure to manage and regulate" is the core pathogenesis of vitreous opacity, which runs through four pathological stages i.e.
qi
deficiency leading to turbidity coagulation, dampness blinding with stasis, metal failure to generate water, and metal failure to control wood. For lung
qi
failure to diffuse and vitreous humor failure to nourish, the treatment should tonify lung
qi
, regulate the waterways, prescribing modified
Bufei Decoction
(补肺汤) plus
Wuling Powder
(五苓散); for lungs failure to free and regulate, with upward diffusion of dampness and stasis, the treatment should promote blood circulation and drain wat
er, resolve stasis and dissipate masses, prescribing modified
Shengpuhuang Decoction
(生蒲黄汤) combined with
Zhuling Powder
(猪苓散); for metal failure to generate water accompanied by essence deficiency and malnutrition, the treatment should tonify

and nourish

as well as replenish both lungs and kidneys, with modified
Bufei Decoction
(补肺汤) combined with
Shengmai Powder
(生脉散); for metal failure to control wood resulting in disorder of
qi
and blood, the treatment should focus on regulating the mutual restriction between metal and wood, soothing the liver and regulating the lungs, usually with modified
