Staged Prevention and Treatment of Vein Graft Occlusion After Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting Using the Method of Tonifying Kidney,Activating Blood, and Nourishing the Vessels
Based on the close relationship between the kidney and the blood vessels in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), this paper explores TCM-based staged prevention and treatment strategies for vein graft occlusion after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). The core therapeutic approach is the method of "tonifying the kidney, activating blood, and nourishing the vessels", with the
Dangui Bushen Huoxue Fomulation
(丹桂补肾活血方) as the base formula. On this basis, treatment is staged according to the pathological features of early postoperative thrombosis, mid-term intimal hyperplasia, and late-stage graft atherosclerosis. In the early stage, emphasis is placed on tonifying
qi
to manage blood and prevent thrombosis; in the mid-term stage, focus is on resolving phlegm and removing blood stasis to open the collaterals; in the late stage, emphasis is on replenishing essence and eliminating turbidity to conso-lidate the root and nourish the vessels. This provides a TCM framework for preventing and treating vein graft occlusion after CABG.
