Exploration of the Academic Characteristics of the Qing Dynasty Court Medical School
The court medical school of the Qing Dynasty was characterized by orderly transmission and far-reaching influence, with distinctive academic features. This paper summarizes and analyzes its key characteristics, including the extensive integration of diverse therapeutic approaches for flexible and eclectic treatment strategies, an emphasis on both body and mind with skillful application of dispersing and regulating methods, prioritization of therapeutic efficacy with safety as a fundamental principle, and a strong focus on pulse diagnosis with subtle and sophisticated interpretation of pulse patterns. On this basis, it is proposed that physicians of the Qing Imperial Medical Academy should be systema-tically studied as a distinct medical school. Taking medical schools and individual physicians as the primary objects of research, and employing technologies such as artificial intelligence in conjunction with clinical needs, future studies should focus on excavating and elucidating their academic characteristics and clinical experience.
