By applying "activating circulation and relieving stagnation" drugs to treat scleredema neonatorum
the author achieved a good result that markedly lowered the mortality of the disease. In order to probe into the relationship between blood stagnation and scleredema neonatorum
the author studied the rheogram of the lower limbs and electrophoretic time of RBG in scleredema neonatorum patients before and after treatment. The result showed that the amplitude in the rheogram of patient was much lower than that of the normal control. There was a marked increase in the amplitude after treatment with p<0.05. The electrophoretic time of the patients was longer than that of the normal infants and was shortened after treatment with P<0.01.The experiment indicated that the blood flow was slowed down and decreased in amount locally while the surface charges were reduced
resulting in the decrease of expelling phenomena of RBG to one another
hence the RBG tended to stick together which made the stagnant condition worse. By applying drugs to relieve stagnant condition and activate circulation
the pathological abnormality was corrected when the patient’s condition was improved.
