This article deals with the clinical andexperimental research on active chronic he-patitis treated with syrup or injection compo-sed of Oldenlandia diffusa

Prunella vulgarisand Glycyrrhiza.100 cases

in which 40 treated with syrups and 60 with injections

received a course of treatment for 60 days

all showed satisfactory effectiveness in theimprovement of symptoms

reduction in thesize of the enlarged spleen and liver.As tohepatic function

suppression of GPT activityproved satisfactory.The total effective ratein the syrup group was 82.5% with 45%of marked effectiveness

while that of theinjection group was 90% and 43.3% respe-ctively.Concerning the HBsAg test

the syrupgroup was proved to be non-effective

whilethe injection group had a percentage of 38.3with negative HBsAg test.In the injectiongroup

24 cases were with positive HBeAgtest before treatment

and 15 cases of themturned to negative after treatment.By applying agglutinin absorption inhi-bition test

the author was able to find thatthe injection of these herbs contained mate-rial related to blood typing.Through thetests of EA
