125 casesof adult patients with shaft fracture of fourlimbs in which 68 cases were femoral shaftfracture

44 tibial fibular shaft fracture and13 forearm fracture were treated by usingthe fixator for fracture reduction.In thetreatment of unstable fracture of lower extre-mities with this kind of fixator

it neededaveragely 5 days for the patients of tibial-fibular shaft fracture and 7.2 days for femo-ral shaft fracture patients to leave the bedfor walking exercise

which could promotebone union and its functional restoration.The rate of excellent and good result reached95.5% with complete healing of the bones.By making use of the axial mechanicaltraction and pressure through two bone nee-dles

the fixator

a result of the integrationof traditional Chinese and western medicinecontrols the rotational deformity of fractu-red fragments;the radial pressure is giventhrough the arch-like and papilionaceoussplints of different sizes and types so as tocorrect and control the angulations and late-ral displacement.The author discussed theindications and mechanism of the fixator
