Objective: To study relation between TCM syndrome differentiation and clinical objective indexes of western medicine for IgA nephropathy. Methods: TCM syndrome differentiation typing
complicated hypertension
laboratory examinations of western medicine in 124 cases of IgA nephritis
and Lee’s pathological grading of the kidney and Katafuchi pathological cumulative scores in a part of the patients were investigated. Results: (1) The TCM symptoms of Qi-deficiency and Yin-deficiency syndromes had higher appearance frequency; (2) Most of patients with spleen and kidney Yang-deficiency types are complicated by hypertension
increases of urinary protein of 24 hours
blood creatinine
blood urea nitrogen
decreases of the clearance rate of endogenous creatinine and urine osmotic pressure
and all pathological lesion of kidney being over grade Ⅲ for Lee’s grading with the highest average Katafuchi cumulative score. with significant differences as compared with another 3 syndromes. Conclusion: Insufficiency of vital-Qi is a key for attack of IgA nephropathy
and the patient of IgA nephropathy with spleen and kidney Yang-deficiency type has a more serious condition of illness.
