Objective:To investigate effects of Fengbei Huayu Capsule on apoptosis of renal cells and expression of Fas and Fas-L in renal cells of diabetic rat

so as to study mechanism in prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy.Methods:Diabetic rat model was made by intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin

and treated with Fengbei Huayu Capsule.Biochemical indexes of blood and urine were determined with full-automatic biochemical analyzer and apoptosis of renal cells was detected with in situ end labelling method.Expression of Fas and Fas-L in renal cortex was detected with immunohistoehemical method and flow cytometry. Results:Blood glucose（Glu）

blood urea nitrogen（BUN）and urinary protein（Upro）of the model gronp increased significantly as compared with those of the normal group（P<0.01）

and improved significantly as compared with Chinese medicine group（P<0. 01）.Apoptosic cells of glomerulus and renal tubules in the model group increased significantly（P<0.01）and expression of Fas and Fas-L raised as compared with the normal group（P<0.01）;The apoptosic cells in Chinese medicine group decreased significantly （P<0.01）and expression of Fas and Fas-L deceased significantly（P<0.01）as compared with the model group.Conclusion: Fengbei Huayu Capsule inhibits apoptosis of renal cells by means of influencing expression of apoptosis-related proteins Fas and Fas-L

so as to exert protective action on the kidney.
