Objective:To study on relation of changes of tongue fur thickness with apoptosis of tongue epithelium and apoptosis-related gene TGF-β 3 expressions. Methods:Terminal deoxynucleotide transferase-mediated d-UTP nick-end labeling(TUNEL) technique
in situs hybridization
immunohistochemical technique and image analysis method were used in the study. Results:As compared with the normal tongue fur
an over-expression of Fas gene in theexfoliative fur of the tongue was accompanied with increase of apoptosis
while a lower expression of TGF-β 3 in the thick fur was accompanied with decrease of apoptosis.Changes of Fas
TGF-β 3 gene expression level had a same tendency with that of apoptosis level. Conclusion:Changes of expression level of Fas and TGF-β 3 genes are possibly important cause influencing apoptosis of the epithelium of tongue fur and leading to the change of thickness of tongue fur.
