Objective To study the long-term therapeutic effect of Shengmai Injection for hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) in neonates. Methods Totally 106 HIE neonates were randomly divided into two groups. Patients in treatment group were transfused with 3ml of Shengmai Injection per kilogram in 5% glucose for 14 days. For serious cases
the medication frequency could be doubled during the first 2 or 3 days. Patients in control group were transfused with 2ml of Compound Danshen Injection per kilogram in 5% glucose for 14 days. For serious cases
0.15 to 0.2mg of Naloxone in 5% glucose was transfused during the first 2 or 3 days. Other treatment was similar in both groups. The discharged patients were followed up monthly. Results There were obvious differences in symptoms
signs
sequela
cranial computed tomography
magnetic resonance imaging
electroencephalogram and readmission frequency between two groups. Conclusion Shengmai Injection has long-term therapeutic effect on HIE in neonates.
