Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of electro-acupuncture at Shaoze (SI 1) on insufficiency of lactation after delivery and study further its influence on different syndromes and different ages of patients with insufficient lactation. Methods The 92 cases of insufficient lactation after delivery were selected and randomly divided into treatment group and control group with 46 cases in each. The treatment group was treated by electro-acupuncture at Shaoze (SI 1) of both sides and the control group by electro-acupuncture at Shangyang (LI 1) of both sides. Both groups were treated 2 courses
5 times of treatment as one course
and followed up for one month. Results The total effective rate of treatment group and control group was 100% and 69.6% respectively
with significant difference (P<0.01). For the different syndromes and different ages of patients
the lactation increase and prolactin maintaining of treatment group were obviously better than that of control group
the difference was significant (P<0.01).Conclusion The effect of electro-acupuncture at Shaoze (SI 1) for insufficiency of lactation after delivery was obviously good.
