Objective To study the characteristics of blood stasis syndrome of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD)at the stable stage. Methods The self-designed TCM Syndrome Information Collection of COPD was adopted and the database of Diagnostic Indices were set up.The frequency and distribution of diagnostic indices of blood stasis syndrome were calculated by the descriptive statistical analysis. Results The incidence of blood stasis symptoms was 95.13% and the 165 cases(76.74%)of blood stasis syndrome were diagnosed. The most frequently appeared symptom of blood stasis was varicose vein of the tongue(98.1%).The incidence of blood stasis caused by qi deficiency was more than 95%.Conclusion The symptoms of blood stasis exists throughout the process of COPD and blood stasis syndrome is formed gradually with the aggravation of pathological changes. The varicosis of the tongue can be served as the early objective index in TCM syndrome differentiation. The purple dark of nails indicates that the disease has been developed into the middle or late stage. The blood stasis due to qi deficiency is the main pathogenesis of COPD.
