Objective To analyze the distribution characteristics of TCM syndrome patterns of the patients with impaired glucose regulation(IGR).Methods Retrospective analytical method was used to investigate the distribution of syndrome pattern
age
gender
body mass index(BMI)
waist-hip ratio(WHR)
blood lipid
blood glucose and insulin level of 159 IGR patients. Results Of the 159 patients
the most common pattern was qi deficiency with blood stasis
accounted for 25.2%
then the second common patterns qi deficiency
qi deficiency with phlegm-damp
and blood stasis. In the 4 patterns
there was no statistical significance in age and gender of patients
while a difference in BMI
WHR
blood lipid
blood glucose
insulin resistance and pancreasislet beta cell function existed. The glucose levels at 60 minutes and 120 minutes during oral glucose tolerance test in the patients with qi deficiency and phlegm-damp syndrome were higher than those of other 3 syndromes(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusion The most common pattern of IGR patients is qi deficiency or accompanied with qi deficiency
and the insulin resistance in patients of qi deficiency with phlegm-damp syndrome was most serious in degree.
