Objective To discuss the impact of the related factors of essential hypertensive with left ventricular hypertrophy (EH-LVH) on TCM Syndromes. Methods The 138 patients with EH-LVH were differentiated into 4 types
i.e. liver-fire hyperactivity
excessive accumulation of phlegm-dampness
yin deficiency with yang hyperactivity and deficiency of both yin and yang
and the impact of age
sex
course of disease
blood pressure
blood lipid
and uric acid (UA) on the different TCM syndromes was studied. Results Regarding to the age and course of disease
the group of type of deficiency of both Yin and Yang was significantly different from the other 3 types. Each type was significantly different in diastolic blood pressure and pulse pressure difference. The low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C)
triglyceride (TG)
and uric acid (UA) in different type were significantly different. Conclusion Age and course of disease are basic factors that influence TCM Syndromes. The change of blood pressure
especially the level of pulse pressure
affects the differentiation of TCM syndromes with their development. Phlegm and blood stasis is the main manifestation of phlegm-damp syndrome in EH-LVH patients.
