Objective To observe the effect of Bailong Jieyu Granules （Granules for depression） on the symptoms and immune function of patients with cancer-related depression.Methods In this prospective and self-controlled clinical trial

the 67 patients with cancer-related depression treated by Bailong Jieyu Granules were scored with Self-Rating Depression Scale （SDS） and Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression （HAMD

24） before treatment

at the end of the 2nd

4th and 6th week

and 3rd month of treatment The period of six weeks stopping medication was the follow-up stage. Before treatment and at the end of the 6th week of treatment

the levels of CD3

CD4 and CD8 of serum T cells and NK cells were also detected to exam their immune functions.Results At each time point of treatment

the SDS and HAMD scores of patients were significantly different from those before treatment （P<0.01）. At the end of 6th week of treatment

the levels of NK cells

CD3

CD4 and CD4/CD8 were increased while the level of CD8 decreased

compared with those before treatment

the difference was significant （P<0.01）.Conclusion Bailong Jieyu Granules can improve the scores of depression scale and immune functions of cancer-related depression patients without recurrence after stopping taking medication.
