Objective To study the effect of Lianzhu Granule on gut barrier function in rats suffered from endotoxaemia enteritis. Methods Fifty Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: Normal control group
model group
Lianzhu Granule 3.6g/kg
1.8g/kg and 0.9g/kg groups
10 in each. Rat models of intestinal catarrh were established by injecting lipo polysaccharide (LPS) via the peritoneal injection after gastric infusion twice a day for 3 days. The times of diarrhea
Na+
K+
Cl-
hematocrit
nitric oxide (NO)
diamine oxidase (DAO)
D-Lactate density in the blood
the IgA plasma cell (PC) and SIgA content of small intestine were measured 4 hours after LPS injection. Results The times of diarrhea in the model group were significantly higher than those of the normal control group (P<0.01)
while those of the Lianzhu Granule groups were lowered (P<0.05 or P<0.01). The levels of glucose
Na+
K+
Cl-and hematocrit in the model group were lower than those of the normal control group (P<0.05 or P<0.01)
while those of Lianzhu Granule groups were significantly improved. The levels of NO
DAO and D-lactate of the model group were higher than those of the normal control group (P<0.05)
while those of Lianzhu Granule groups were significantly lower (P<0.01).Conclusion Lianzhu Granule has a protective function for intestinal mucosa impairment caused by LPS through decreasing the intensity of inflammatory reaction to protect the gut mechanical and immune barriers.
