Objective To study the characteristics and rules of TCM syndromes in ischemic cerebral vascular diseases (ICVD) with the multivariate statistics. Methods The data of 300 patients with ICVD collected by the TCM diagnostics were analyzed by using the software SPSS11.5 for multivariate statistics on principal components and hierarchical cluster. Results The main TCM syndromes of ICVD were Wind yang upward disturbance accompanied with qi stagnation and blood stasis or obstruction of Du-Governor Vessel
Qi deficiency and blood stasis accompanied with heat stagnated inside
Yin deficiency of liver and kidney accompanied with retention of phlegm damp
and Phlegm turbidity misting upward accompanied with qi deficiency and blood stasis. Conclusion The multivariate statistics on principal components and hierarchical cluster is a good way to analyze and classify the TCM syndromes for revealing the characteristics and rules of ICVD patients.
