clinical characteristics and prognosis of ischemic stroke patients with different patterns of TCM syndrome. Methods Totally 197 acute ischemic stroke inpatients with meridian-collateral being attacked were enrolled in this study.Their patterns of TCM syndrome were diagnosed
risk factors of stroke investigated
and Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE)
National Institute of Health Stroke Scale(NIHSS)
Barthel index(BI) and Modified Rankin Scale(MRS) on admission were used to evaluat the condition of the patients
then the changes in NIHSS
BI and MRS at 2-week and 3-month after admission were followed up as well. Results The prevalence of vascular risk factors
stroke subtypes
and MMSE
NIHSS
BI
MRS at admission were not different significantly among stroke patients with different patterns of TCM syndrome(P>0.05).However
the decreasing changes of NIHSS during the first 2 weeks
the increasing changes of BI and MRS(Rakin≤3) during the 3 months obviously differ among stroke patients with different patterns of TCM syndrome(P<0.05).The effect of excess patterns of TCM syndrome was better than that of deficiency patterns of TCM syndrome. Conclusion Short-term prognosis of stroke was different in patients with different patterns of TCM syndrome.
