Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Shenqi Zhipao Granule（Granule of pseudostellaria root and astragalus root for treating herpes） on recurrent genital herpes and its influence on T lymphocyte subsets.Methods Totally 60 cases were randomly divided into treatment group and control group.The treatment group was administered Shenqi Zhipao Granule and the control group with famciclovir tablets for one month in succession.The short-term effect was evaluated after 7 days using medicine and six months later the anti-recurrence effect was determined.Flow cytometry was adopted to test the changes of T lymphocyte subsets of peripheral blood

and symptom disappearing time

pain stopping time

scabbing time and healing time of both groups were compared.Results Treatment group and control group had a similar short-term effect without significant difference（P>0.05）.Treatment group had a better anti-recurrence effect than the control group with a significant difference（P<0.05）.After treatment

T lymphocyte CD3+ and CD4+ increased in the treatment group while they were not obviously changed in the control group

the difference between groups was significant（P<0.01）.Conclusion Shenqi Zhipao Granule has a similar short term effect as famciclovir but better effect in anti-recurrence in treating recurrent genital herpes

and the Granule can improve the immunity of human body to decrease recurrent rate.
