Objective To observe the clinical effect of Buyuan Capsule（Herbal capsule for tonification）and euthyrox on Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism.Methods Totally 138 patients who consistent with the diagnostic standard of dysfunctional Hashimoto’s thyroditis were randomized into two groups.The treatment group

70 cases

was treated with Buyuan capsule and euthyrox

and the control group

68 cases

was only given euthyrox.The level of thyroid hormone

and symptoms scores were assessed before and two months after treatment in both groups.Results Total effective rate in the treatment group was 94.3%

and 80.9% in the control group.A statistical difference existed between two groups（P<0.05）.All of the observation items in the treatment group

such as the symptoms score

level of thyroid hormone

thyroid antibody

were better than those in the control group（P<0.05）.Conclusion Satisfactory outcome is acquired in using Buyuan capsule in the treatment of dysfunctional Hashimoto’s thyroditis

with an advantage in combination of Chinese herbal medicine and western drug.
