Objective To investigate the effect of Qibai Pingfei Capsule （Herbal capsule for pulmonary disease） on the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD）.Methods Based on the routine treatment

the treatment group（18 cases） and control group（17 cases） were administered Qibai Pingfei Capsule and placebo respectively. The changes in BODE index

including body mass index （BMI

B）

degree of airflow obstruction（O）

dyspnea（D）

and exercise capacity（E） in both groups were observed.Results In the control group

there were no obvious changes in BMI

forced expiratory volume in one second （FEV1）

6-minute walk test （6MWT）

and the BODE index score after treatment

but the dyspnea （Modified Medical Research Council [MMRC]） score was somewhat decreased （P<0.05）. In the treatment group

BMI

FEV1

and 6MWT score were lowered slightly （P<0.05）

and the MMRC and BODE index score were significantly decreased after treatment（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.Conclusion Qibai Pingfei Capsule can significantly decrease the BODE index score of COPD patients

treating COPD effectively.
