Objective To study the correlation between the TCM syndrome elements and interleukin-6(IL-6) in hypertension patients. Methods Totally 321 hypertension patients collected were investigated with a method of syndrome element judgment and serum content of IL-6 was determined. The regression analysis was carried out to study the correlation between the TCM syndrome elements and IL-6.Results The main syndrome elements of hypertension were stasis(178 patients
55.45%) and fire or heat(164 patients
51.09%).The stasis was in positive correlation with IL-6(P<0.01).Conclusion Stasis is the most common syndrome element of hypertension and its formation is possibly correlated with the increase of IL-6 level.
