Objective To study the relation between quality of life of the coronary heart disease (CHD) patients with angina pectoris and TCM syndromes types. Methods Eighty-six CHD patients with angina pectoris were collected
of them
30 patients were yin deficiency of heart and kidney
30 being both qi and yin deficiency
and 26 being qi deficiency with blood stasis. A control group was set up with 40 healthy people. World health organization quality of life brief scale (WHOQOL-BREF)
the MOS item short from health survey (SF-36)
and the Seattle angina questionnaire (SAQ) were used to evaluate the quality of life and analyze its correlation with TCM syndromes. Results All scores of WHOQOL-BREFResearch of the CHD patients with angina pectoris were significantly lower than those of the control group
and the difference was of statistical significance (P<0.01). The scores of WHOQOL-BREF of the patients of yin deficiency of heart and kidney were lower than those of patients of both qi and yin deficiency in the field of physical. SF-36 score of the patient with yin deficiency of heart and kidney was lower in role physical (RP) than that of the patients with both qi and yin deficiency
and the score of role emotional (RE) of them was lower than that of the patients with qi deficiency with blood stasis
the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05). Concerning stable state of angina pectoris
the SAQ score of those patients with qi deficiency with blood stasis was higher than that of those patients with both qi and yin deficiency and yin deficiency of heart and kidney (P<0.05)
while there was no statistical difference among all the syndromes in other aspects (P>0.05). Conclusion The quality of life of the CHD patients with angina pectoris is significantly lower than that of healthy people
and the score of quality of life of patients with different TCM syndromes is different.
