Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of Yiqi Huoxue Jiedu Huatan Formula（Formula to reinforce qi

activate blood

remove toxins

and dissolve phlegm）on liver fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B.Methods Totally 95 patients were randomized into test group of 49 cases and control group of 46 cases.Both groups received conventional treatment

and the test group was additionally administered Yiqi Huoxue Jiedu Huatan Formula

200 ml each time

twice a day

whilst the control group administered Fufang Biejia Ruangan Tablet（Compound tablet containing turtle shell for softening the liver）

4 tablets each time

three times a day

3 months as one course of treatment

totally 2 courses.TCM syndrome score

clinical symptoms and signs

serological indices of liver fibrosis

and ultrasonic imaging were observed to evaluate comprehensively the clinical effect.Results Both groups were significantly improved in TCM syndromes（P<0.01）

and after treatment the syndrome score of the test group was significantly lower than that of the control group（P<0.05）

the improvement rate of fatigue

poor appetite

and hepatalgia in the test group was superior to that of the control group（P<0.05）.Both groups could decrease significantly the serological indices of liver fibrosis and S index

narrow the trunk diameter of hepatic portal vein

and reduce the spleen index（P<0.05）.The total effective rate of the test group and the control group was 79.6% and 60.9% respectively

clnical efficacy of the test group was superior to the control group.Conclusion Yiqi Huoxue Jiedu Huatan Formula is effective in the treatment of liver fibrosis

significantly superior to Fufang Biejia Ruangan Tablet.
