Objective To observe the dynamic changes of symptoms and signs in endotoxemia rabbits’ for exploring the correlation between endotoxemia and differentiation in a macroscopic view and progress of wei-qi-ying-xue syndromes.Methods Twenty-two New Zealand rabbits were randomized into a blank group with 8 rabbits in it and a model group with 14 rabbits in it.The endotoxemia models were established with colibacillus endotoxin lipopolysaccharide（LPS）injecting intravenously.The blank group was injected with normal saline in the equal amount.The dynamic changes of symptoms and signs

body temperature

and heart rate of the two groups before and 36 h after anti-toxin treatment were observed.Results According to the different symptoms and signs of the model group

the experimental process after anti-toxin treatment was divided into stage Ⅰ（anti-toxin treatment 0～2.0 h）

stage Ⅱ（2.1～6.0 h）and stage Ⅲ（6.1～36.0 h）.There were no significant changes in the symptoms and signs

body temperature

and heart rate of the blank group in all stages.In the stage Ⅰ

the model rabbits had standing hair

shivering

sneezing

and running nose

and the heart rate got faster than that of the blank group（P<0.05）

and the body temperature was higher（△T） than that of the blank group（P<0.01）.In the stage Ⅱ

the model rabbits had yellow urine

significantly increased rough breathing

feverish and congested auricle

congested conjunctiva

and more faster heart rate

and △T was continuously getting higher than that of the stage Ⅰ and the blank group（P<0.01）.In the stage Ⅲ

the model rabbits had the lowered spirit

decreased activity and sensitivity

bloody stools

cooled auricle

and more obvious congested conjunctiva

and some of them had perioral cyanosis

auricular cyanosis or ecchymosis

protrusion of eyeball

nasal bleeding

drowsiness

weak limbs

opisthotonus

convulsion

and death

and △T was getting lower than that of the stage Ⅱ（P<0.01）

but still higher than that of the blank group（P<0.01）

the heart rate tended to get lower

but still faster than that of the blank group（P<0.01）.Conclusion The endotoxemia rabbits’symptoms and signs have regular stage manifestations

being significantly correlated with the wei-qi-ying-xue stages during the development of febrile disease put forward by Ye Tianshi.
