Objective To observe the effect of Wenjing Huoxue Huatan Formula（Formula for warming meridians

activating blood

and dissolving phlegm） on the diabetic peripheral neuropathy.Methods Ninety-six type Ⅱ diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients were randomized into treatment group of 64 cases

and control group of 32 cases.The control group was given routine western medicine treatment and the treatment group was administered Wenjing Huoxue Huatan Formula additionally

one dose per day.The treatment lasted 60 days.At the end of treatment

the two groups were compared in the clinical effect

TCM syndrome effect

total cholesterol（TC）

triglycerides（TG）

low density lipoprotein cholesterol（LDL-C）

high density lipoprotein cholesterol（HDL-C）

serum free fatty acid（FFA）

hemorrheological indices（whole blood viscosity low and high cut

plasma viscosity

red cell aggregation index

erythrocyte deformation index）

sensory nerve conduction velocity（SCV） and motor nerve conduction velocity（MCV） of tibial nerve

and the changes in the incubation period.Results The total effective rate was 92.2% in the treatment group and 46.9% in the control group

showing statistical difference（P<0.05）.In TCM syndrome effect

plasma glucose

hemorrheological indices

and tibial nerve function indices

the treatment group was superior to the control group

and the difference was statistically significant（P<0.05 or P<0.01）.Conclusion Wenjing Huoxue Huatan Formula is effective in improving the clinical symptoms

treating the lipid metabolic disorders

correcting the hemorrheological abnormality

and enhancing the nerve function of the patients with type Ⅱ diabetic peripheral neuropathy.
