Objective To observe the intervention effect of Yishen Tiaogan Decoction Ⅱ（Decoction for reinforcing the kidney and regulating the liver） on the follicular development and ovarian luteinizing hormone receptor（LHR） expression of model rats with polycystic ovarian syndrome（PCOS）.Methods Twenty-four-day old female Wistar rats were made PCOS models with embedding levonorgestrel stick subcutaneously in combination with injecting HCG into subcutaneous tissue.Ten rats which were not made models were put into the normal group and the 60 PCOS model rats were randomized into 6 groups

with 10 in each.After intragastric feeding with normal saline

metformin

and Yishen Tiaogan Decoction Ⅰ

low-dose

medium-dose and high-dose of Yishen Tiaogan Decoction Ⅱ respectively for 15 days

the ovary was weighted

the size of follicle and number of luteum were observed with hematoxylin-eosin（HE） staining and optical microscope

and the expression of LHR in ovary was determined with immunohistochemical analysis.Results After using the medium-dose and high-dose of Yishen Tiaogan Decoction Ⅱ

the number of follicles of models rats increased

the immature follicles decreased

the quantity of luteum increased

and the expression of LHR enhanced.Conclusion Yishen Tiaogan Decoction Ⅱ is able to significantly increase the weight of ovary of rats

reduce the number of immature follicles

increase the quantity of luteum

and enhance the LHR expression in ovary

benefiting the development of follicles and ovulation.
