Objective To evaluate the effect of Liangxue Tongyu Formula （Formula to cool blood and remove stasis） in the treatment of the TCM syndrome of stasis-heat obstructing in the brain in the acute hemorrhagic stroke.Methods Totally 135 cases were randomized into treatment group

73cases

and control group

62cases.Both groups were treated with the routine medication of western medicine

and the treatment group was administered Liangxue Tongyu Formula additionally.The course of treatment for the two groups was 21days.Then

their scores of stoke diagnosis

scores of syndrome of stasis-heat obstructing in the brain

comprehensive effect

and cerebral hemorrhage were compared.Results After treatment

the scores of stoke diagnosis of the two groups were both significantly lowered significantly （both P<0.01）;the score of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group （P<0.05）

and the difference between before and after treatment was signifi- cantly bigger than that of the control group （P<0.01）.After treatment of 11and 21days

the scores of syndrome hemorrhage of the two groups were both significantly lowered compared with before treatment （P<0.01）

and the scores and hemorrhage after 21days were also significantly reduced compared with that after 11days （P<0.01）.After treatment for 21days

the score of syndrome and hemorrhage of the treatment group was significantly less than those of the control group （P<0.01）.The total effective rate of the treatment group and the control group was 93.1% and 77.4% respectively

and the difference was significant （P<0.01）.Conclusion Liangxue Tongyu Formula could significantly improve the therapeutic effect of the syndrome of stasis-heat obstructing in the brain in the acute hemorrhagic stroke patients

lowering the score of stoke diagnosis and the score of syndrome

and promoting the haematoma absorption.
