Objective To explore the correlation between Chinese medical syndrome a nd laboratory index in stage Ⅲ and stage Ⅳ of diabetic nephropathy（DN）.Metho ds Totally 172 DN patients in stage Ⅲ and stage Ⅳ we re adopted and the distribution of Chinese medical syndrome was analyzed.The canonical correlations between seven Chinese medical syndromes and eighteen laboratory ind ices were analyzed.Results There were 99 cases（81.8%） of yin deficiency syndro me and 78 cases（64.5%） of qi deficiency syndrome among 121 cases of DN in stage Ⅲ.There were 33 cases（64.7%） of yin deficiency syndrome

23 cases（45.1%） of yang deficiency syndrome and 36 cases（70.6%） of blood stasis syndrome among 5 1 cases of DN in stage Ⅳ.There was significant difference in distribution of qi deficiency syndrome

There exi sted positive correlation between urinary albumin excretion rate with blood stas is syndrome

and 2-hour postpran dial blood glucose with yin deficiency syndrome（P<0.01）.Co nclusion Qi deficienc y syndrome and yin deficiency syndrome is common in stage Ⅲ of DN.Yin deficien cy syndrome
