Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of qi-boosting blood-quickening and toxin-resolving turbidity-transforming therapy on carotid artery plaque.Methods Totally 414cases of carotid artery plaque were randomized into treatment group of 216cases and control group of 198cases.The treatment group was given qi-boosting blood-quickening and toxin-resolving turbidity-transforming formula

one decoction daily.The control group was given 20mg simvastatin dispersible tablets and 0.9g Xuezhikang Capsule

once daily.The treatment course lasted for 6months.The levels of total cholesterol（TC）

triglyceride（TG）

low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol（HDL-C）were detected before and after treatment.Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 93.5%and 65.2%respectively

with significant difference between groups（P<0.05）.After treatment

the levels of TC

TG

LDL-C were significantly decreased

and the level of HDL-C was significantly increased in the treatment group（P<0.05）.There was no significant change in levels of TC

LDL-C and HDL-C in the control group（P>0.05）after treatment except for the decrease of TG（P<0.05）.There were significant differences between groups in each index after treatment（P<0.05）.Conlcusion The qi-boosting blood-quickening and toxin-resolving turbidity-transforming therapy is effective for carotid artery plaque and can significantly reduce blood lipid levels.
