Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of integrative therapy for small cell lung cancer(SCLC).Methods The randomized controlled trials(RCTs)of integrative medicine combined with chemotherapy or radiotherapy-chemotherapy and chemotherapy or radiotherapy-chemotherapy alone were searched in Pubmed

Chinese Biomedical Literature Database
China National Knowledge Internet and Wanfang database. The Cochrane Handbook Scale was used to extract the data. The RevMan5.0Software was used to analyze the data. The outcome was evaluated according to short-term efficacy
quality of life(QOL)
adverse reactions and survival rate. Results There were 24RCTs and 1 845cases of SCLC in which 966 cases in the integrative medicine group and 879cases in the western medicine control group included. The short-term efficacy in 17RCTs
QOL improvement in 11RCTs and 1-year
3-year and 5-year survival rates in 5RCTs in the integrative medicine group were significantly higher than those in the western medicine control group(P<0.05or P<0.01).The incidence of bone marrow suppression in 15RCTs and the incidence of gastrointestinal reactions in 13RCTs in the integrative group was significantly lower than that in the western medicine control group(P<0.01).Conclusion The efficacy of integrative medicine for SCLC is superior to western medicine alone with fewer adverse reactions
higher QOL and longer survival time.As the included studies were of low quality
