Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of Three-Step Nine-Therapy Cervical Manipulation(TNCM) for cervical vertigo. Methods Totally 120 cases of cervical vertigo were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 60 in each. The treatment group was given TNCM and the control group was given traditional manipulation. Both groups were treated 20min/each time every other day and three times as a course of treatment. The therapeutic effect was observed after 2 courses of treatment.Dizziness Handicap Inventory(DHI)and the Short Form(36) Health Survey(SF-36) for quality of life(QOL) was scored before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate of the treatment group and control group was 90.0% and 78.3%respectively
with a significant difference between groups(P<0.05).The item scores and total score of DHI were significantly decreased after treatment in both groups(P<0.05)
especially the physiological score and total score in the treatment group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).There were significant differences in SF-36 scores except the health change score between before and after treatment in both groups(P<0.05 or P<0.01).There were significant differences between groups in the scores of bodily pain and mental health after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion TNCM can obviously relieve the symptoms and increase the QOL of patients with cervical vertigo.
