Objective To study the therapeutic effect of moxibustion on Point Sanyinjiao( SP6) for postpartum uterine contractions pain. Methods The postpartum women with single birth were given intravenous infusion of oxytocin for 5 minutes after natural childbirth
and 200 women whose first visual analog scale( VAS) score greater than or equal to 4 were chosen and randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 100 in each. The control group was given conventional anti-inflammatory treatment and oxytocin. The treatment group was added with moxibustion on Point Sanyinjiao. The VAS scores were recorded before and after treatment
and adverse reactions were observed. Results The VAS scores were significantly decreased in the treatment group after 5 min
10 min and 15 min of moxibustion( P < 0. 01). The VAS scores were significantly decreased after 10 min of moxibustion as compared with after 5 min of moxibustion
and the VAS scores were significantly decreased after 15 min of moxibustion as compared with after 5 min and 10 min of moxibustion( P < 0. 01). The VAS scores were significantly decreased in the control group after intravenous infusion of oxytocin for 25 minutes as compared with for 5 min( P < 0. 05). The VAS scores in the treatment group were significantly lower than those in the control group at each time point after treatment( P <0. 01). Conclusion Moxibustion on Point Sanyinjiao is effective for postpartum uterine contractions pain and it can obviously relieve pain.
