Objective To observe the therapeutic effect of acupuncture combined with heat-sensitive moxibustion for constipation in stroke patients with qi-yin deficiency syndrome. Methods Totally 60 cases of constipation in stroke patients with qi-yin deficiency syndrome were selected and randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 30 in each. The control group was given acupuncture on Zhigou( TE6)
Tianshu( ST25)
Shangjuxu( ST37)
Zusanli( ST36) and Hegu( LI4) as the main points with even reinforcing-reducing method
and Qihai( CV6)
Danzhong( CV17)
Taixi( KI3)
Taichong( LR3) and Xuehai( SP10) as the combined points with reinforcing method with 30 min retention of needle once daily. The treatment group was added with heat-sensitive moxibustion on bilateral Dachangshu( BL25)
Tianshu( ST25) and Shangjuxu( ST37) as the main points for 30 min once daily. Both groups were treated for 2 courses( 2 weeks). The efficacy and long-term efficacy were observed after treatment. The constipation scores and Bristol Stool Form Scale( BSFS) were evaluated before and after treatment. The adverse reactions were recorded. Results The constipation scores were significantly decreased in both groups after treatment( P < 0.05)
especially in the treatment group( P < 0.05).The normal numbers of BSFS were significantly increased in both groups after treatment( P < 0.05)
especially in the treatment group( P < 0.05).The total efficacy in the treatment group and control group was 86.67% and 73.33% respectively
with a significant difference between groups( P < 0.05).The total long-term efficacy in the treatment group and control group was 66.67% and 53.33% respectively
with a significant difference between groups( P < 0.05).Conclusion The combo therapy of acupuncture and heat-sensitive moxibustion is effective
simple
safe and promotion-worthy for constipation in stroke patients with qi-yin deficiency syndrome.
