Objective To study the efficacy of Shenqi Fuzheng Injection( SFI) combined with chemotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer patients with qi deficiency syndrome. Methods Totally 54 cases of advanced pancreatic cancer were randomized into the treatment group and control group
with 27 in each. Both groups were given GS chemotherapy( intravenous infusion with 1000mg / m2 Gemcitabine on the 1st and the 8th day; 60mg / d
80mg / d or 100mg / d DeFazio Capsules based on body surface area) twice daily for consecutive 14 days with a withdrawal of 7 days. One treatment course lasted for 21 days. The treatment group was added with 250ml SFI once daily from the 1st day to the 14th day. Both groups were treated for 2 courses. The survival time was recorded. The efficacy of qi deficiency syndrome and adverse reactions were observed. Results The median survival time in the treatment group and control group was 10. 70 months and 10. 01 months respectively
with no significant difference between groups( P >0. 05). The improvement rate of qi deficiency syndrome in the treatment group and control group was 33. 3% and 18. 5% respectively
with a significant difference between groups( P < 0. 05). There were significant differences between groups in the adverse reactions such as neutropenia and thrombocytopenia( P < 0. 05). Conclusion Although SFI combined with GS chemotherapy cannot improve the survival time of advanced pancreatic cancer patients
it can reduce adverse reactions and relieve symptoms.
