Diabetes is a disease caused by disturbance of glycometabolism. Hyperglycemia of diabetes is due to dysfunction of spleen transformation. Based on the understanding of diabetes from doctors in generations
the relationship between the spleen and diabetes is explained in this article in aspects of physiology and pathology of the spleen and inducing factors of diabetes. The authors think that spleen failing to disperse nutrient substance or dispersion dysfunction are the root causes of diabetes
and they exist in the whole process of the disease. Yin-deficiency and dryness-heat and spleen failing to disperse nutrient substance are the results of long-term existence of pathological products phlegm
dampness
stasis and turbid. They are also the signs of diabetes onset.
