Objective To explore the common features of rheumatic diseases with damp-heat syndrome. Methods Inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry( ICP-MS) was applied to determinate trace element profiles of blood samples from ankylosing spondylitis( AS) patients with damp-heat syndrome
gouty arthritis( GA) patients with damp-heat syndrome
and healthy volunteers. Then the trace element profiles of different patients and healthy subjects were compared
and the common features in the trace element profiles of AS patients and GA patients which were different from those of healthy volunteers were investigated. Results Compared with healthy control group
both GA damp-heat group and AS damp-heat group showed significant increase levels of copper
rubidium and cesium in blood serum. Conclusion The increased serum levels of copper
rubidium and cesium may be the common elementary features in damp-heat syndrome of rheumatic diseases.
